Matan Portnoy

Matan Portnoy is a filmmaker, born in 1992 in Israel and based in Tel Aviv. In 2013 he graduated from "Psagot" Film & Television college in Karmiel, in which he created two narrative shorts - "In The Orchard" (27 minutes) and "Down Side Up" (14 minutes, 2nd place winner of the "Young Creation" contest, Haifa Film Festival, 2013). In 2018 Matan was hired by the IDF Spokesperson's unit to direct a celebratory music video for Israel's 70th Independence Day. The video hit 6 million views. In 2020, Matan graduated from the Screenwriters Program of the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School in Jerusalem. “Entropy”, a narrative short written and directed by Matan has been released in 2021. The film was selected and screened in 15 festivals around the world. Winner of best experimental in Venice Shorts Film Festival (Los Angels), February edition, Best Micro-Short, Phoenix Shorts, Best Experimental in Toronto Film Magazine, March edition, Best Art Film in Pure Magic International Film Festival (Amsterdam), and Honorable Mention Award in Roma Short Film Festival. Featured in Best Picks Of The Month in Film Shortage online cinema platform.
