The Big Flight
Elegant and sensuous drama short THE BIG FLIGHT is a formalist cross-genre project and a film about soulmates that tells the story of a singer and a photographer who fall in love without knowing each other. The film stars Ekin Koç and Ceren Gündoğdu.
Balahan Gürel, born December 27th, 1996, is a Turkish filmmaker. He started his career in theatre and worked in numerous plays as an actor, director, and playwright before turning to film. One of the early adopters of online education, he attended Toronto Film School and majored in writing. His debut short Love, Death and Tomatoes, screened at some of the prestigious festivals around the world, including Oscar® qualifying Izmir International Short Film Festival and selected by BKSV to the Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film Turkish Pavilion catalog. His recently completed second short, The Big Flight, tells the story of a singer and a photographer who fall in love without knowing each other. Currently, he is developing his first feature film. His films explore stories of love, family, and human nature; with intimate and crafted performances, story, and form at the core of his filmmaking approach.
