Dune

At the end of her life, a woman finds herself caught in a temporal limbo, face to face with her younger self. The portal back to reality is about to close, and escape is possible only if they leave together. Sensing an advantage, the younger woman proposes a game of chess: win, and walk free; lose, and remain trapped for eternity. The older woman accepts, placing her fate in the hands of a severe Keeper of Time, who is known to forgive nothing.
