Karanfil Kız

Logline:
Hatice tells her daughter the story of Karanfil Kız to help her fall asleep. In the story, Karanfil Kız goes to the movies with her father but falls asleep. When she wakes up, she discovers he has vanished. Searching for him, she journeys from forest depths to the stars, where fantasy and reality intertwine.

Synopsis:
Hatice tells a bedtime story to her daughter. According to the story, Karanfil and her Father go to the movies for the night session. Karanfil falls asleep halfway through the movie. When she wakes up, it is daytime, and her father has disappeared. No one knows what happened to the man. Her friend tells Karanfil that an Ox swallowed her father. Although she does not believe in her friend, she goes to the forest with him to find the Ox. The girl walks through the forest and reaches a waterfall. She dowses her head down the waterfall and finds herself in outer space. There, she sees the Ox which carries the Earth on its horns. Karanfil remembers the truth by the guidance of the Ox. She did not go to the cinema with her father. There was an earthquake. She and her father were buried under the rubble. Her father likened the light leaking through the crack to the projector’s beam coming from the machinist’s room so that her daughter would not be afraid. Karanfil survives with the dream of the imaginary movie, but her father dies. Remembering the truth, Karanfil takes the Earth from the horns of the Ox. Since that day, Carnation carries the Earth with difficulty on her shoulders while the Ox runs freely. Ezgi is already asleep when Hatice finishes telling the story. Hatice exits the room, and her prosthetic arm is revealed. It’s understood that it was Hatice’s real life story.
