*OLDBLOOD* is a realist film that delves into the plight of contemporary youth. It follows Lee Eve, a hardworking striver from a small town who, after five exhausting years in her career, finds herself on the verge of a breakdown as she desperately seeks a recommendation letter for a household registration in OldYork.

The film centers on Lee Eve’s humiliating process of begging her boss, Boss Chance, for the letter. Each fawning gift she presents is met with a courteous yet firm rejection, driving her deeper into despair. One night, while attempting to deliver a gift to his home, her years of accumulated bitterness and anger erupt into a blood-soaked fantasy of revenge—she imagines herself killing the boss and colleagues who show her no respect. The reality, however, is far more mundane: Boss Chance is merely an ordinary man, preoccupied with the demands of his own family. Pushed to her absolute limit, she emerges from this intense breakdown and fantasy, finally able to accept his rejection with a laugh. This moment marks her true awakening: she understands that her rebellion is not aimed at any single individual, but at the version of herself that has been imprisoned by labels of “excellence” and the expectations of others. The film concludes with an open ending, leaving the audience to ponder: when relentless striving leads only to emptiness, how is the younger generation to find its place in the world?
