In the 1960s, two brothers work in a coal mine where danger and routine are inseparable. What appears to be an ordinary workday ends in a fatal accident that kills the younger brother. The older brother is left behind, confronted with unbearable guilt and loss. As he tries to make sense of what happened, he is increasingly confronted with the reality of an unsafe and inhumane system that has structurally undermined their lives.
